The Interior design consultation is nothing else but a search for the space a client wants to be in. It is a relaxed conversation about client’s habits, life, likes and dislikes, idols, inspiration, childhood memories, favourite objects and art … It first starts as a story, and then starts to take shape once the client introduces their favourite colours, textures, shapes and styles. It is the job of an interior designer to listen carefully and put all information together into a cohesive design scheme. The more prepared for the design consultation – the better. The designer needs to find out about the property, see the plans, building type and style, window orientation, any conservation area laws, accessibility to the property etc. It is very helpful if the client starts thinking about what it is they want to achieve, what is currently lacking in the spaces before the design consultation. If they bring any inspirational images which can include art, fashion, nature, photography etc. the better. Everything is taken into account. My aim is to create a functional dream space for the client.
