Word ‘victorian’ is a symbol for expansion, exotic travel and exploration, curiosity and need to explain everything in a scientific and rational way. This was the brief I gave to myself when approaching the overall ambiance for this very personal and unique living room in Edinburgh, Scotland. The interior is a part of the traditional Edinburgh flat, built at the end of Victorian era – in the late 19c. Stylistically it is a design cocktail of Victorian charm, antiques, contemporary and antique furniture, geographical maps on the walls, geological findings and tassels and velvet. Objects, maps and details in this room have been acquired over the years by the owner and then carefully selected. The owner is a geologist, hence the love of maps, minerals and corals. The owner wanted to be able to feel the presence of those memories. And the sitting area by the window is by far her favourite place to sit and relax.
